Established in early 1990's, General Food Trading Co. Ltd. (GFT), has been a pioneer focusing primarily in hard to find 'Home from Home' Middle Eastern food and drink products throughout the UK.

Initially catering to the Middle Eastern ethnic public during the 1990's, GFT is now geared to cater for a majority of other ethnic segments of the UK's diverse residents - most notably the Asian and Afro Caribbean communities.

Today, GFT's comprehensive distribution network is well respected and considered as one of the most established specialised FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) companies in the UK that is rapidly proficient to service its customers competently without having to compromise on losing quality.

All our products are carefully marketed and sold by GFT's skilled in house sales force that visit the market every day and who consist of many nationalities capable of catering to first generation customers, who we find often prefer their native tongue when being served to avoid any miscommunication and further reinforce our Home from Home approach. As a result of delivering to over 1000 independent retail outlets within the M25 alone, our foods have just as many nationalities too; we have agencies that reach as far as

  • India - Ashoka, Camel
  • Egypt - Enjoy Juice
  • Malta - Foster Clark's
  • Lebanon - Al Wadi
  • France - KIRI Cheese
  • Bahrain & Australia - KRAFT Cheese
  • Poland - Lajkonik, Jutrzenka
  • Italy - NOVA Tomato Paste
  • Belgium - LIPTON Yellow Label Tea
  • The Netherlands - Rainbow Milk
  • Saudi Arabia - Datela
  • Spain - Rafael Salgado Oil

GFT is also setup to cater not just to independent retail stores, but its multiple division has successfully listed our products into super stores such as ASDA, Morrison's and TESCO. Take a look at the 'world foods aisle' of your local branch, we have listed:

  • Kraft Cheese
  • Alwadi
  • Jumbo Seasoning
  • Greenfields Herbs
  • Lipton Yellow Label Tea
  • Nestle Cerelac
  • Dalgety Jamaican Tea
  • Enjoy Juice
  • Rainbow Milk
  • Nestle Nutrament drinks
  • Rani
  • Barbican (non-alcoholic malts) to name a few.

We are constantly innovating and working to push 'ethnic' or 'world' foods in new directions.

Exporting Our Knowledge of the Food Market

The General Food Trading name can be seen around the world as a result of our strong export networks in North America, Europe and the Middle East. Unlike many UK based food distributors who find themselves catering to one ethnicity, we are also able to reach corners many dream to touch. We are able to take products to new levels, whether it is via the super market channels, international networks or help give a product birth by introducing it to the market through the independent retailer. For example, we have recently introduced lines to Ireland previously not available through solid marketing and support to retailers with margins and merchandising.
